Research interests: Early Christianity; Historiography of Nazism; Religion under the Nazi regime (with special reference to the role of Jesus of Nazareth in the public and political discourse); Role and Task of Religion in the GDR;  Daily Life in  20th century in Germany. Avner Sorek is a MA student at the History Department, writing a thesis under the supervision of Prof. Ofer Ashkenazi about the historiography of the 20th century in Germany.
