Introduction to Late Modern History

Course Aims:

We will gain familiarity with the main ideas that shaped the late modern period. By the conclusion of the course students should be able recognizes the major events which shaped modern Europe. They will gain an understanding of the main factors that shaped modern Europe. Special emphasis will be put on the dramatic events of the twentieth century, especially the two World Wars. For each unit students will grapple with different interpretations of the historical events and in this way will be exposed to different explanatory approaches employed by historians.
